About the shop

A family plant that still answers the phone when a dimension slips.

Northfield Precision Works is still owned by the Northfield family, but the floor runs like a contract manufacturer: documented setups, shift handovers and buyers who can reach a manufacturing engineer without a ticket queue.

How we work

Rules the floor lives by

Hold the first article

No batch runs until the customer signs the CMM report or sends a written waiver. Night shift does not override that rule without a quality engineer on the floor.

Fixtures stay with the job

Custom fixtures are labelled with the part number and stored on racks photographed in the traveler, so a repeat order does not start from scratch six months later.

Honest capacity

If a date is tight we say so in the quote and offer partial shipments instead of missing a promise quietly. Buyers plan around truth more easily than around optimism.

Milestones buyers notice

These are the changes customers felt in lead time, paperwork or audit readiness — not vanity awards.

  1. 2012

    AS9100 certification

Defence work becomes a quarter of revenue without a separate brand name or a second set of books.

  2. 2019

    Apprentice program

Twelve machinists graduate from the local college partnership with journeyman cards and stay an average of four years.

  3. 2023

    Solar on the roof

Daytime power costs drop and customers ask for the sustainability one-pager when they score suppliers.
