Play in small groups
Dogs mix in groups of three or four who suit each other, chosen at the meet-and-greet. The paddock is fully fenced and a staff member is always in it.
The Hollyhock Pet Hotel is a converted stone barn on a working farm near Stow-on-the-Wold. Dogs sleep in heated suites with a real bed and a window onto the paddock, cats have a quiet wing of their own, and someone who knows your pet's name is on duty all night.
Every guest has a meet-and-greet before their first stay.
Nothing here is an add-on you need to remember to ask for. The things below are part of every night's rate.

Cats stay on a separate floor with climbing shelves, hiding boxes and a window seat. No dogs ever visit, and the radio stays low.

Orthopaedic beds for older dogs, raised cots for the heavy-coated and plenty of blankets from home. We wash everything before your pet leaves.
Every afternoon you receive a picture and a few lines on how your pet ate, played and slept, written by the person who was with them.
Tablets, injections and eye drops are given exactly as prescribed, and each dose is logged against your vet's instructions.
A practice four miles away is on call day and night. If your pet needs to go, we phone you first and travel with them.
Choose the dates, a room and the size of your party. The total includes all walks, play sessions, bedding and the daily update.
Guests keep to the rhythm they know from home, with a few extra adventures.
Dogs eat your food at your usual portion, then head out to the paddock for a first sniff of the morning.
Small groups set off along the hedgerows and the stream, with a lead for anyone who prefers one.
Everyone goes back to their suite for a nap while the staff clean, cuddle and write the day's notes.
Afternoon games, a second walk, then dinner and a quiet evening with a staff member on hand.
“We left our spaniel with a knot in our stomachs. The first photo arrived before we had reached the airport, and she looked happier than we did.”
“My elderly cat hates change, yet she settled into the cat wing in an hour. The staff even warmed her food, as I'd asked.”
“Two weeks away and the boys came home tired, muddy and plainly delighted. They sprinted to the car boot on the next visit.”
Dogs need current distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis and leptospirosis boosters plus kennel cough at least two weeks before arrival. Cats need flu and enteritis. Bring the certificates to the meet-and-greet.
Please do. Familiar smells help pets settle. We wash everything on the last morning so it comes home fresh.
We offer private suites with their own paddock slot, so your dog is never forced into a group. We will talk it over at the meet-and-greet.
Puppies from sixteen weeks with completed vaccines, and seniors of any age. Older guests get orthopaedic beds and shorter, gentler walks.
Summer and Christmas fill early, so send your dates as soon as you have them. We will hold a suite for forty-eight hours while you decide.
