Train with us, serve your own road.

One in three responders at Calder County Fire & Rescue is a volunteer. We train you in CPR, wildland firefighting and radio use, and we schedule shifts around your job and your family.

From application to first call

  1. Weeks 1 to 2

    Application and interview · Station captain

    Meet the crew, tour the station and talk about what you want to do.

  2. Weeks 3 to 10

    Academy evenings · Tuesday and Thursday

    Pump operations, ladders, hose handling and basic medical care.

  3. Weeks 11 to 12

    Live-fire day · Training ground

    Real fire conditions with a safety officer assigned to each trainee.

  4. Month 4

    First shift · Paired with a mentor

    You ride with an experienced crew for your first responses.

No experience needed

Cooks, drivers and community educators are as important as firefighters. There is a role for anyone aged 18 or over.
