Town hall · Market Square 1

Everything the town does, findable in one place.

Gemeente Veldmark serves 41,000 residents across the old centre, four villages and the canal district. Book a passport appointment, check which bin goes out tonight, read what the council decided on Tuesday or tell us about a broken streetlight, all without phoning twice.

The counter at Market Square 1 is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 16:30.

The council year at a glance

Decisions follow a fixed rhythm, so you can plan when to speak up and when the result lands.

  1. Every second Tuesday

Open council meeting · Council chamber, 19:30

Anyone may speak for three minutes on an agenda item. Sign up at the door or online by noon.

  2. First week of the month

Neighbourhood walk-in hours · Village halls rotate

The district officer and a planner answer questions about parking, trees and traffic outside the formal meeting.

  3. March and September

Budget consultation · Online and library desks

Residents rank spending choices and the results are published before the council votes.

  4. Autumn

Winter service plan · Public works

Gritting routes, bike path priorities and the sandbag stock are confirmed and posted on the website.

Common questions at the counter

Do I need an appointment?

For passports, identity cards and marriage certificates yes. Everything else is walk-in, and you can use the queue ticket on your phone to wait elsewhere.

Can someone collect a document for me?

Yes, with a signed authorisation, their own ID and a copy of yours. The counter cannot release passports to a third party without it.

How do I pay?

Cards and mobile payments work at every counter and online. We do not accept cash after 15:00 because the till closes early.

What if I disagree with a decision?

Every letter names the objection window, normally six weeks. A hearing officer reviews the case independently of the department that decided it.
