Roofing contractor · Burlington, Vermont

Built for the winter your last roof barely survived.

Granite Ridge Roofing replaces and repairs shingle, standing-seam, slate and low-slope roofs across Chittenden and Addison counties. We find where the heat escapes before we choose the shingle, because in Vermont the ice dam is usually the real problem and the leak is only the symptom.

Free inspections include attic photos and a written ventilation reading.

Six ways we keep Vermont snow outside

We recommend what suits your pitch, your budget and your attic, and we tell you when a repair is smarter than a replacement.

Dark architectural shingles laid in clean courses

Architectural shingle replacement

Full tear-off to the deck, new ice-and-water membrane at eaves and valleys, synthetic underlayment and a ridge vent cut to the attic's actual airflow.

Tight vertical metal seams on a mountain home roof

Standing-seam metal

Roll-formed on site in your color, with concealed clips that move as the panels expand and contract between January and July.

Icicles hanging from an unprotected eave over a porch

Ice-dam prevention

Air sealing at the attic floor, added insulation and balanced ventilation. We prove it with a thermal camera on the first cold morning.

Hand-nailed grey slate and a copper valley on a Victorian roof

Slate and copper repair

Burlington's Hill Section and Old North End are full of Victorian slate. We replace broken pieces, rebuild copper valleys and match old slate colors.

White membrane roof with flashed vents and a drain

Low-slope and flat roofs

Fully adhered EPDM or TPO on garages, dormers and porch roofs, with tapered insulation so water leaves the roof instead of resting on it.

Blue tarp stretched over a wind-damaged roof slope

Storm and wind repair

Tarp the same day, photograph every shingle for your insurer and stay in touch with your adjuster until the claim closes.

Roof by roof

How a replacement unfolds

  1. 01

    Roof walk and attic check

A foreman climbs your roof, photographs every slope and checks the attic for frost, damp insulation and blocked soffits.

  2. 02

    Estimate with the ventilation math

You receive the material, the deck repairs we expect and the exact ventilation numbers behind the ridge vent we propose.

  3. 03

    Tear-off, dry-in, finish

Magnets sweep the lawn, the deck is inspected and your roof is dried in the same day it is opened.

  4. 04

    Final walk and warranty

We photograph the finished roof, register the manufacturer warranty and leave you our own written workmanship guarantee.

Anders KolbeShelburne
“Granite Ridge matched the slate on our 1890s house so closely the neighbors asked who we hired.”
Rowan PelletierHill Section, Burlington

What Vermont homeowners ask us about roofs

Will my insurance cover a replacement?

Sudden storm or wind damage often qualifies, and age-related wear does not. We document the damage, meet your adjuster on the roof and send the photos with the estimate.

Can you roof in cold weather?

Shingles seal best above 40 degrees. In colder months we recommend metal or membrane systems, hand-seal shingles properly if the job cannot wait, and never start a roof we cannot dry in.

How long should a roof last here?

Architectural shingles typically give 18 to 25 Vermont winters, steel standing-seam 50 or more, and well-kept slate over a century.

Do you remove snow from roofs?

We do emergency roof raking for ice dams and collapse risk. It helps in a pinch but does not cure the heat loss that created the dam.

Are you licensed and insured?

We carry general liability, workers' compensation and fall-protection training for every crew member, and email the certificates to you or your lender within a day.
