Perennial nursery · Asheville, North Carolina

Shrubs and natives with a guarantee you can read.

Willow & Stem grows 420 species of perennials, shrubs and native grasses on 18 acres outside Asheville. Every tag lists mature size, deer resistance and the pH range we tested in our beds. Designers, landscapers and homeowners search weekly availability online, reserve plants for pickup and read care notes written by the crew who watered them that morning.

Open Tuesday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Mondays for potting.

Growing practices

Plants leave here hardened, not shocked

We root in compost-based media, acclimate in outdoor houses and publish the exact light a plant saw before you load it.

Shade house with potted plants lined up in rows

Outdoor hardening houses

Every woody plant spends at least two weeks in 30 percent shade cloth before sale, so your landscape does not sunburn on day one.

Watered by zone, not guesswork

Soil moisture probes trigger irrigation by species. Tags include the last seven days of water so you know if a plant prefers dry or steady.

Pest monitoring log

Scouts walk every house twice a week. If we spot aphids, we flag the bench online and discount affected trays rather than hide them.
