Cycling club · Seattle

Gravel climbs and espresso stops.

Sound Roll is a member-run club for road and gravel riders who want published routes, honest pace groups and a sag wagon on longer days. We leave from Fremont Brewing on Saturdays, share GPX files the night before and never drop newcomers without a regroup. Ride captains carry first-aid kits, spare tubes and a printed roster so we know who is still on course.

Pace groups

A, B and social — leaders wear colored armbands.

Support van beside cyclists

Sag support

On rides over 70 km, a club van carries tubes, pumps, snacks and a portable charger for Garmin units that die on long climbs.

Cafe culture

Every route lists a preferred espresso stop; social group waits up to ten minutes so no one sprints past the pastry case.

Member notes

“The GPX files match what we ride — no mystery gravel sections that show up mid-route without warning.”

“Social pace group actually waits at the cafe. I learned clipless pedals without feeling abandoned.”

“Sag van found me with a flat in the rain; tube, pump and a towel without making me feel silly.”

Do I need a gravel bike?

Road bikes fine on road routes; gravel tires recommended for dirt segments.

Helmet policy?

ANSI helmet mandatory; no exceptions.

How fast are pace groups?

A group averages 32–34 km/h on flats, B group 28–30, social group stops for photos and espresso every 45 minutes.

Can I bring a friend?

Full members receive two guest passes per quarter; guests sign a waiver and must stay with their host rider.

What if it rains?

Rides roll unless winds exceed 40 km/h or ice is reported on the route; captains post a forum update by 06:30. Indoor trainer sessions replace outdoor rides when air quality is poor.
