# Custom domains

Search, attach, and verify your own domain, then make it the primary address of your app.

Your app starts at an Evonx address (`yourapp.evonx.app`). That slug stays live
even after you attach a domain. When you want `app.yourgarage.com` (or the root
domain) in the address bar, search, attach, verify, and set it as **primary**.

## Attach and verify

1. On the **Publish** tab, open domains. **Search** for a name you already own,
   or type the hostname you want (`app.yourgarage.com`).

2. **Add** the domain. Evonx shows the DNS records to create at your registrar
   (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, a local provider): typically a record pointing at Evonx
   plus a verification record proving you control the name.

3. Create those records exactly as shown, then **Verify**. Propagation is often
   minutes; some registrars take hours.

4. When the domain is verified, **set it as primary** so visitors and links use
   it. HTTPS is issued and renewed for you.

> **Tip**
> No domain yet? Buy one at any registrar first — Evonx connects a name you own,
> it does not sell domains. The `.evonx.app` address keeps working in the meantime.

## Troubleshooting

- **Verification never completes.** Typos, a trailing space, or the record on
  the wrong subdomain are the usual causes. Match Evonx's values exactly.
- **Works without `www` but not with it** (or vice versa). Each hostname needs
  its own record — add both, or redirect one to the other at the registrar.
- **Certificate warning.** Often leftover propagation; if it lasts more than a
  day, look for conflicting old records pointing the same name elsewhere.
